New Poker Room at the Tropicana

The man who wrote the book, "The Guide to Operating a Professional Poker Room - Rules and Procedures" should be able to operate a whiz, bang poker emporium. We can now see this pro in action at the new Tropicana Poker Room in Las Vegas. Nick Gullo has been a poker man for as long as I can remember (and that is a long time!) I was delighted to hear that he is now the head poker guy at the Trop. Nick has always impressed me because he also is a player and he knows how to treat the players. I recently received this news release from him:

Tropicana Poker Room News Flash

To all my friends in the Poker World, As most of you know, I have recently taken the position of Poker Room Managerat the newly remodeled Tropicana. The poker room here is one of the nicest in town and I take pride in knowing that we treat all of our players with complete courtesy. We value your patronage as a player and a person. To really welcome you to our room, we are having a Freeroll on Oct. 4, 2011 for$5,000. You only need to play 20 hours of live action in the entire monthof September to qualify. (I don't think I could have made it any easier) And while you are playing you will be earning $1.00 per hour in comps. I hope to see you take part in this $5,000 giveaway.
Your friend, Nick Gullo

I spoke with him to get the rest of the scoop about the new room. It is going to be a haven for those of us who are tired of no-limit hold'em. He plans to spread mixed games on a regular basis. Here is what he had to say:

Every Tuesday at 5:30 pm we have a Razz game. It is a $2 to $8 spread. Every Wednesday at 5:30, we have a HORSE game. It is a $2 to $8 spread. Every Thursday at 5:30 we have the Big Game. the Big Game is usually Hold'em, Omaha, Razz and Stud. This game is also a $2 to $8 spread. All the games are high only. Every Friday at 5:30 pm, we are starting a $6 - $12 limit Hold'em game. This will be with a half kill. (we have not had this yet, I am just going to try it.) We spread a $1/$2 no limit hold'em on a regular basis. The buy in is $40 to $300.

Also on the agenda, which seems to be a "must" for Las Vegas poker rooms these days is four tourneys daily: a $40 buy-in at 10 AM and 2 PM for 4 K in chips with 15 min. rounds and a $70 buy-in at 6 and 11 PM for 9 K in chips and with 20 min. rounds.

Congratulations Nick, on your new room. I have my fingers crossed that you will be successful with your offer of mixed and spread limit games!

See you at the Trop.
