I've been busy! My sister said, "Please keep up with your blog so I can keep up with you." She doesn't text, tweet, or Facebook so I must blog so she will know what is happening in my life.
We are over half way through "Tournament Season" in Las Vegas, but the best is yet to come for many female poker players from all over the world. I call it, "Ladies Tournament Week!"
Starting tomorrow, Monday, June 27, is Binion's Ladies Championship, at noon with a $210 buy-in. On Tues. Pink Ladies is holding a big Mega Satellite at 4 PM at the Stratosphere in Vegas - for $1,000 seats into the WSOP Ladies Championship - the buy-in is $125 and one out of every 10 players will win the $1000 seat. On Wed. it is the Ladies No-limit Championship at the Venetian. It starts at 3 PM (be prepared for a late night even though it is a two-day event.) The buy-in is $350. If you don't make it to Day Two and the finals at the Venetian, fear not for there is plenty to do to keep you busy on Thursday. Beginning at 3 PM at the Golden Nugget, LIPS (Ladies International Poker Series) will be holding a mega-satellite for the LIPS Grand Championship. Starting at 4 PM, the HHPT (High Heels Poker Tour) will be holding one-table sit-n-goes at Treasure Island for seats in the WSOP ladies event. Friday is the BIG day! Day one of the Ladies World Championship begins at noon at the Rio, but WAIT! Before "cards are in the air" for this long awaited event, go by the Brazilian room at the Rio, anytime after 9 AM. There will be a party going on all day long where the brand new book, "Winning Women of Poker" will be introduced. Many famous women in poker have written chapters in this book and many of them will be on hand for a meet and greet and to sign autographs. You can pick up your premiere copy right there. My chapter is on what I consider to be the most misunderstood area of poker "POSITION."
If you don't play the WSOP ladies event or if you don't make Day Two, fear not, there is more poker to be played ... at the Mirage at 1 PM will be the HHPT first annual "Team Event." This should be a lot of fun and I hope I cannot play it because I have to go back to the Rio. Whew ... but wait, we aren't finished! On Sunday at noon, the LIPS Grand Championship will start at the Nugget at noon. If you haven't won your seat during the year, you can buy-in for $245.
I keep thinking I will get "pokered out," but I don't. What I get is "pooped out!"
There is hardly another subject at this time of the year, but I did go to a movie when I took a day off from poker. I saw, "Bridesmaids." I was so sure I was going to love it that I was disappointed in the first 20 minutes. It starts out rather slowly, however it picks up speed and never slows down. There are a lot of laughs and some BFF poignant moments. A real LOL chick flick.
Puppy Report: They are almost too cute. I guess they're really not puppies anymore since they celebrated their first birthday on April 1 - no fooling! I continue to have a ball with them and love them more and more. I have spent a lot of time working with them so they are well-behaved. She (Raise) plays a game where she will "freeze". She seems to think that this makes her invisible. He (Mr. Re - short for Re-raise) will stroll by and she will pounce on him and he will act all surprised. Sometimes, she will grab his leg and hold it in her mouth. He will limp around, dragging her with a mouthful of his leg. It is a sight to behold, but by the time I stop laughing and get the camera, the game is over and they have moved on. They play with their toys, but their favorite toys are water bottles or boxes. They have learned to walk on a double leash without wrapping it around me and they now know how to ride in the car. They truly are well behaved and a joy to have in my life - never a dull moment!
