I last blogged on June 6. Since then, except for taking a day or two here and there to recuperate and catch up on my life, I have been playing poker. Twice, for 12 hours, so close to the money, but didn't quite make it. I have been doing well and making money in the satellites. To date, I have played 6 and won 5! That is money in the pocket but not life-changing like the World Series can do. I did do well in the World Series of Poker Seniors event.I had a great Day one but I struggled on Day two. I ended up going out 132nd after plowing through a field of almost 4,000 (a record!) for a payday of over $3,100 . First was only half a million! I'm not complaining, I made more than most. My most memorable hand and the biggest pot I won in that whole tournament was ... are you ready for this? With a 7-2 offsuit. I was in an unraised Big Blind. The flop came 8-7-7. I love it! Player #1 checked, player #2 bet 2,000 and I raised it to 10K. Only player #2 called and that worried me a little - he had to have something! The turn was a Queen. I bet $8,500 and he immediately called me! Now I was worried so I checked and the river card was a Queen. We both checked (which made me feel better). He showed two 9's and I took it down!
They were making pictures of me right and left. Let me be specific - they were making pictures of my hats. One made the Review Journal, front page of the Business Section. It was an article about the 2011 WSOP breaking all records at the half way point. If you would like to see the photo of me and my beautiful green hat that my friend Doralee (Lady Pink) decorated, go to www.reviewjournal.com Look under "Recent Issues" on the top of the page. Scroll down to Sat. June, 18 and scroll down to the Business section and the article about the World Series - there I am. The title of the story is "Bigger Prize pool, crowds at the Series", by Howard Stutz. Poker News also did a great little interview with me on Day 2. I'm not a bit sure of how to tell you to find that, but if you want to search Poker News for it, it was filmed on Sat. June 18 and I had on my beautiful purple hat that Doralee blinged up for me.
My next BIG day will be Friday, July 1 - the Ladies event. Besides the ladies event, there will be a lot going on that day. Some of it will be a surprise but I can tell you this: the book, "Winning Women of Poker" will make it's debut all day long in the Brazillian Room. I will be there for interviews and to sign autographs that morning from 10 AM for one hour.
